Bowing out...

Ruah is here to stay. However, ruah is not here to stay at blogger. It seems a cloistered Eastern Catholic monk is more web saavy than this little lay person. I took my cue from Father Abbot Joseph (www.wordincarnate.blogspot.com). The Google Conglomerate, from what I can see supports child abuse. Eventually I’ll switch over my email, so stay tuned…

Prematurity & Postponement

It was in the darkness of December that Ruah was conceived. As we progressed in planning our first event, the April 22nd Artist's Day of Recollection, a phalanx of planning obstacles approached, not the least of which is another major event in Madison that day. We pressed on. It was in the midst of a retreat day recently that I, Jessica, Ruah's progenitor, realized our apostolate needed more time in the creative womb.

So scratch the April 22nd event. Keep in touch. We'll still post periodically with thoughts and upcoming meetings in the Madison area. If you have an idea for a link, story or blog, send it to ruahfellowship@gmail.com.

Enjoy the rest of winter. As a friend recently wrote from his own personal winter, "Enjoy winter while we have it. Breathe in the cold air. Let it sting your lungs." Spring is coming, friends, but let us first enjoy this last long darkness and bright briskness. The Light is coming.

Coming Soon to the Madison area...

Ruah: breath, wind, spirit. It's the Hebrew word used in Genesis 1 ("and the spirit hovered over waters...), and it's our inspiration for co-creating Ruah Faith & Culture Fellowship.

Who are we?
People of the Lord (we, the founders, happen to be Catholic Christians) who feel the need to bring people together to inspire and be inspired so we can engage the culture.

What's our passion?
Our mission is to inspire and be inspired. Our purposes are threefold (three F's--we like alliteration): Fellowship, Formation (spiritual, intellectual, artistic) and Fraternal Service.

What do you do?
We're planning our first event now, an Artist's Day of Recollection, on April 22nd in Madison (details TBA). It's not limited to "artists" in the formal sense, but we thought "Creative-minded folks or people who just like culture and pop culture Day of Recollection" might not be as catchy.
It'll be a day of talks on art and culture (topics are being formed now), prayer, food and fellowship. Other regular meetings and events, God-willing, will follow.

How can people get involved?
